The shirt that wicks sweat

A material that repels liquids can be used to make clothing to keep you dry even in the gym.

Remember the photos of Jose Antonio Camacho with his shirt soaked? The former coach of the Spanish team was almost as popular extreme activity of his armpits like the game around. Many have some type of excessive sweating, which can become a real problem come the good weather. In search of a solution, a team of bioengineers from the University of California Davis has developed a fabric that works like human skin, absorbs and transports sweat away from the skin to the other side of clothing. In this way, the user stays dry and comfortable while sweating like I was in a sauna.

Scientists sewed hydrophilic material, which likes water, a highly tissue liquid repellent, creating patterns of threads that absorb water drops on one side of the fabric, propel them along the tissue and expels from the other side.

The researchers say that the fabric will allow water to evaporate, which is useful, for example, in the manufacture of sportswear much healthier and not sticky however tough the workout. The technologycould also be used to minimize the dermatitis induced by diapersfor infants and as a wound dressing for patients with excessive sweating.

According to its creators, this material uses economic microfabrication technique, so it is compatible with the textile manufacturing process.
